  1. I actually recorded this video this time last week, but didn't have time to upload the video until now. Thanks to everyone, since the recording, who pointed me to this easter egg.

  2. I think that the Easter egg in octo canyon isnt the same phone, but it's the same type of phone and someone is at octo canyon communicating with agent 8 from up there. I know that in octo expansion, the phone says he's an AI, not an actual phone, but…maybe he just said that so agent 8 didn't question who it was. Maybe someone is using the telephone in octo canyon to communicate to someone down below. Maybe it's the professor. The person who created the telephone and who created judd and lil judd. That also ties into my Splatoon 3 theory that maybe not all humans are dead, and some humans managed to survive. Like this comment if you… uh .. agree??

    (I think I did it right…) ahem

Btw, nintendo did state that it's not an Easter egg, and that it was just a decoration, and then they just re-skinned the face and re-used the model to make a telephone for octo expansion coz they didn't wanna start from scratch. BUT WE CAN STILL SPECULATE, NINTENDO!!! XD

  3. I have a theory about the red rocks on top of the roof in octo-canyon.
One of the earliest forms of radio communication was crystal-radio. I'l let wikipedia explain it, as I'm in no way an expert:
A crystal radio receiver, also called a crystal set, is a simple radio receiver, popular in the early days of radio. It uses only the power of the received radio signal to produce sound, needing no external power. It is named for its most important component, a crystal detector, originally made from a piece of crystalline mineral such as galena. This component is now called a diode.

Crystal radios are the simplest type of radio receiver[2] and can be made with a few inexpensive parts, such as a wire for an antenna, a coil of wire, a capacitor, a crystal detector, and earphones. Crystal radios are passive receivers, while other radios use an amplifier to make the radio signal louder. Thus, crystal sets produce rather weak sound and must be listened to with sensitive earphones, and can only receive stations within a limited range.

The wikipage also mention that among other crystals, zink was used; a material that is commonly red.
So basically: a communication system that does'nt need electricity, is cheap to make and uses crystals, which are commonly found underground.
Now, let's take a look at the octarians: they live underground, they dont have access to electricity and they probably dont have as many resources as the inklings. Thats why they had to use an alternative way of communicating: crystals.
Also, this method of communication is probably also used by captain cuttlefish and marie during the singleplayer campain. And I with captain cuttlefish appearing in the octo expansion trailer, I bet he uses his radio to communicate to the octarians, or something like that. Im not super-invested in splatoon theories, but this would explain a lot of things about the story. …also sorry for writing an essay lol

  4. Nintendo has been referencing to the octo expansion ever since the first day of Splatoon 2 being a thing.
If you look at Pearl and Marina long enough, the wave at you.
In the onto expansion they are the story tellers.or the commenters,or whatever.
This is a reference to the upcoming update.
